I found this photo on Tumblr, and I think the makeup is amazing. The actual idea of a different smeared color of makeup over the mouth area represents many things, and it kind of disturbs me to think about, but I also think that is why I love it. Very unique and meaningful on a female model. And the look on the model's face is perfection.

Me and Jess--New Girl

I got a text today from my good friend Christa asking me if I've seen the new comedy, New Girl. I reluctantly said yes, because I loved the first episode (mostly because of Damon Wayans Jr., who was ONLY in that one episode...), but I hated the second. Christa told me:

Caitlin, you are so Jess, and I love it! Everything she does is totally what you would do! And the last episode her hair was really pretty in curls and it looked like yours!

I told Christa I would go ahead and give New Girl a second chance and watch the third episode. Low and behold, Christa was speaking the truth. The character of Jess is a teacher (like me), a goofball who loves to sing always (like me), and loves to wear cute outfits and just be generally quirky (like me!).

I am really glad I gave the show a second chance, because I feel like I would be missing out on a really clever show, with a strong female lead.

This dress is seriously my childhood dream. The late 90's were like, my time to shine. This dress reminds me of those weird thick dresses that were covered in similar flowers to the one Kate is wearing (I think I had a dress like the on I'm describing with big, lime green and blue flowers all over it). The accentuated shoulder and feathers on the full skirt is more than I could ask for! And, it's a mini. Wow.

Remember how I want everything always? Well, I also want a hairless cat (Sphynx, for all you sillies out there). Here's a real beauty.

Bows, Travel, Headwraps, Fruits & Veggies

Bows of all sorts. I have yet to wear my bow clip I purchase from American Apparel months ago. It beautiful and a smooth, light, salmon color ("Blush" is the official name).

Travel. Even the idea of travel. I haven't been anywhere since we've moved to Colorado (other than back to Iowa or Minnesota). I miss France and Switzerland and Chicago and California (even though I have never been there...)! My [most recent] dream is to become a nanny in France, and enjoy a comfortable life there with Matt.

Believe it or not, gypsey head-wraps. This one is just subtle enough, and I think it would look lovely with my ombre hair. I just don't know exactly when or where I would wear it. That hasn't stopped me before, though, from making egregious purchases!

Fruits & Veggies! I have basically overhauled my diet lately to include more fresh items. Lots and lots of locally grown lettuce, peas, beans, apples, pears, raspberries, carrots, and plums. Not only does eating healthier make me lose weight, it also helps me feel generally better, and our fridge looks really pretty with all that produce overflowing out of it!

I went to get my hair colored last Saturday, and my stylist ended up going at my hair in another direction than I had wanted. She took a really long time tirelessly coloring my hair (for almost 3 hours!), and unfortunately, the color barely even showed up!

Needless to say, I called her back the next day and let her know the color was basically non-existant. I woke up today after a lovely sleep with the pugs (Matt was at a retreat for his lab--leaving me sleeping alone for the first time in 2 years!), and went back to my stylist to get my ómbre look!

After only about an hour, this is how things turned out;

I am so unbelievably excited! My hair definitely needed a change, and this is definitely it! I can't wait to see what it looks like curly!

Wow.

I just got the new J. Crew catalogue in the mail today, and I gotta say, I'm starting to get it. I used to shrug off J. Crew mostly because, let's face it, it's for rich white people. I also just never really liked that "professional" look. Haha.

But now, it's seriously amazing! Heavy on the flowy, sheer fabrics, leopard print (as you can see), and warm, fall colors.

I cannot wait until I have some extra money, or can find the entire collection at Goodwill!

Wow. It's been way too long!

I've recently finished my online classes which means I got a raise at work! My other job is about to begin as well, which is super exciting because I get to start teaching in schools again! I participated in my first Tour de Fat, and we are all moved in to our new house, so things are getting good again.

Other than working out all the time (we joined a gym!), I've been buying a lot of stuff, which is a big problem (or is it?)...I am going to make a change in addition trying to change my body, haha, by dying my hair again! I'm planning on the ómbre coloring. I have an appointment set for next Saturday and I'm totally pumped!

My family is coming to visit in October, which I cannot wait for! Hopefully, since things are slowing down, I actually will get to update for real!

Currently, the annual RAGBRAI bicycle tour is going on in Iowa. I'm obviously not participating in it--being trapped in FoCo-- but I have made it a vow to go ahead and sign up for next year ($150? Yikes!). RAGBRAI, in case you haven't heard of it, is a huge, week-long cyclefest (basically) that tours the luscious landscapes of the great state of Iowa...OK, maybe I am hyping Iowa up a bit, but HEY! It is my home-state!

I simply need to begin saving my money now, get my bike completely overhauled, buy some new cycling stuff, and snag up some buddies to participate with me.

No problem...anyone interested??

Translucent Maxi Skirts!

Although I thought I hated maxi skirts, this look is so appealing to me. I love the see-through skirt with the high-waisted bloomers underneath. It's sexy and mysterious all at once!

As you can tell, the black variety of maxi skirt is by far my favorite.

One of my most favorite things about Summer has got to be wearing shorts! I love all sorts of shorts, high-waist, low-cut, short-shorts, cut-off, you name it. My current favorite are American Apparel's Stretch Twill High-Waist Side Zipper Short. I own two pairs already, and hope to acquire a third very soon.

Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet is right up my alley. As soon as I signed on to Refinery29 this morning, her collection made me almost spit out my coffee. The throwback silhouettes, giant hats, and platform sandals made it all worth it!

Giant, attention-getting sunglasses and jewelry, sign me up, of course!

Recently, I have been looking for some really bright nail polishes. I really like OPI nail polish, because of the high quality, and variety of colors. There is one problem with OPI, though: the price. I can't buy more than 2 at a time because they are so expensive.

I went on a hunt the other afternoon to see if I could find a good alternative. I found Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri nail polish. The colors are bold and amazing, and the applicator brush is flat, giving you a really easy stroke to cover the whole nail. Another aspect I like is the fact that the nail polish is extremely thick, with a paint-like consistency. The polish does dry very quickly, as well, which is something else I was looking for. And at a low price of $4.95-$4.99, you can't go wrong!

It's been quite warm here in these parts lately, so, of course, to quench the heat I bought some Milk Duds, Hot Tamales, and Junior Mints. Makes total sense. I do have to say, though, warm Milk Duds are amazing.

This has been quite the tiring week. You know those weeks when the kids you work with just know how to push your buttons? Even the good kids? Yeah. That was my week.

One may think having that terror finished with would be a good thing, but my weekend will be spent doing essays, quizzes, and cleaning.

Hopefully, I will get in some bike rides (which have been amazing, as of late).

Wow. I am SO SORRY that I haven't posted for almost a month. I have been extremely busy lately.

Reason 1: The GRE. I have been studying like crazy, yet I still feel like I'm learning nothing.

Reason 2: The 4th of July. I had to get all my plans together to make sure things go as planned. I will be visiting both Missouri & Iowa.

Reason 3: Online classes. 'Nuff said.

Reason 4: I have started riding my bike daily again. I ride for 11-12 miles for about an hour, which, on top of everything else (oh yeah, did I mention I also have a full-time job?), leaves me little time to blog.

In hopes of using my time more wisely, I have also moved my computer into our extra room. I have made it more of a "study space" to deter me from being online when I could be getting important things done in life!

And finally, I gave my blog a revamp! I think it's better to clean up the blog, just as I am trying to with my busy life!

Hopefully, all of these things will all allow me to make more meaningful posts in the future!

I recently went to a Yelle concert in Denver at the Bluebird Theater. It is literally one of the best concerts I have ever been to (Prince is still my numéro un, of course)! I went with my friend Erin from work, and man did we get sweaty. Even though I only got 4 hours of sleep that night, I wouldn't take any of it back for the world.

It was an awesome night of dancing and closeness with both the band, and all the other fans. Even though most of us knew little to no French, we still sang along like we knew all the words by heart (I may have known a few of the words by heart...being a fan since 2007!). I would definitely recommend seeing Yelle sometime, if they are ever in a venue near you!

Matt & I went out with one of my good friends from work and her boyfriend from Denver last night, and sadly, we did not get any photos. It was one of the best nights out I have had in a while. We all are really goofy and all really like to laugh--a lot--and we did. I like just going out and being able to dress the way I want. It seems like in Colorado, it is hard to be stylish sometimes, because everyone is so laid back.

If only the heels I was wearing last night were actually Alexander McQueen...(I think mine might have been even higher!)!

The Little Bird Bakeshop

When my mom & sister came to visit, I was itching to try one of the new cafés in Old Town. The Little Bird Bakeshop was such a beautiful choice for a nice, quaint breakfast. They specialize in French inspired foods, with a wonderful, old-world feel to the place.

I got a latte and some Apple Bread Pudding, and my mom got French pressed coffee and a Baked Oatmeal with fresh cream. My sister wasn't very interested in the place, so she just kept us company. The bakeshop was all around a wonderful experience! I can't wait to go back.

As I mentioned, my mama & sister came to visit last week. It's hard for me to even write about it because I miss them so much already! We had a lot of adventures drinking margaritas, swimming, going to cafe's, visiting Estes Park, and Boulder craziness. This week has gone so fast! I went out on Wednesday for Wednesday afternoon/evening Margaritas with some co-workers, and it was amazing! Next week is going to be a short one, because my sister & mom are coming to visit for a few days! Yay! I am soooo excited.

It is about 70º today, but I am a might too tired to go out & do anything. Waking up at 5:15 all week will really get to ya. Hopefully I will get some new mascara, nail polish, and eye makeup appliers this weekend at Ulta's sale.

Pippin's 2nd Birthday!

Sunday was Pippin's 2nd birthday, so it was cause for celebration! Since we aren't the type of family to have birthday cake for our dogs, we decided just to take them on a nice walk to the baseball park to run around and chase tennis balls.

What can I say? It was a blast!

Matt's New Haircut

I don't often gush about my guy, but he is definitely worth gushing about. He's talented, smart, and super-handsome. He recently brought up the abserd idea that he wanted a mullet. I said that was "so high school", and that he would instantly regret it. Instead, I told him that Ewan McGregor just got an awesome haircut, and that Matt should try it out. Well, since Matt really trusts my fashion sense/eye for fashion, he said OK.

Body Chains!

Now that Spring has sprung, I am looking forward to the warm weather and wearing less clothing. The body chain definitely can give an extra oomph to a bland oversized tank-top. I have yet to buy one, but will hopefully be adding a few body chains to my jewelry collection.

My favorite that I've seen is the body chain with the Eye of Horus on it. If only I knew where to buy one!

Living Proof

A little while ago, I purchased two TINY bottles of Living Proof shampoo & conditioner. I didn't want to use them yet, since they cost like $10/bottle (I know! And the larger sizes are $24-$56!).

Well, recently I have used up both bottles, and OH MY GOSH are they amazing! I have had problems with my hair from the beginning of time, and when I find a shampoo that works such wonders, I don't care how much I am going to have to pay for it, I will get it and stick to it!

I use the no frizz shampoo & conditioner which not only takes away any frizz that you may have, they also add volume and amazing definition to my curls. I cannot say enough about this product. Seriously, if you have some extra cash, this shampoo/conditioner will change your life.

Ah! So amazing. If you want to get a few bottles, I found mine at Sephora.

Chloe (2009)

WOW! Has anyone seen this film? Chloe (2009) is an "erotic thriller" based on the French film Nathalie...(2003). Chloe sports an amazing cast, including Amanda Seyfried, Julianna Moore, and Liam Neeson. If I was in my Women & Film class still--or even my Masculinities class--I would certainly have wanted to write a paper on this one.

I don't want to give too much away, other than this is one of the most twisted, sexual, painfully heartbreaking movies I have seen in a long time. Chloe literally pulled me into a world that I had little to no understanding of, and made me feel like I was living along with all of the characters. I definitely recommend this film, but I do warn you, it is not suitable for the timid, in any regards!

So, it's no secret that I've been obsessed with modeling/models/modeling shows since I was a wee girl. Well, Leigh Lezark, the dark beauty DJ, is one of my most favorite models. She actually looks a bit more "healthy" than other girls, and I just love her sullen facial expressions.

Wow. This past week has been hell, to put it lightly. I gave my two-weeks on Monday, and have not been back to work since. I'm making it sound like I just decided not to go back to work, but it turns out I have/had a mixture of strep throat AND the flu! I can't believe I got this sick! Especially with an illness that mostly effects children from 5-15, haha!

I kind of wish I could just be done with work all together; waking up at 5:45 has really gotten to me, and I just want to hurry and begin anew in a town I ACTUALLY LIVE IN!

Ok, well, that is enough venting for now. I will hopefully be back to normal after this weekend and back to regular blogging. I feel like I have no idea what has been going on in the blogosphere, so please feel free to give me some updates!

This about sums up my life. I had to leave work early last night, and things haven't gone so well since. I will spare the details, but I had to stay home from work today.

Two good things have happened, though:

Wow. This past week has been really busy! Not only did I decide I hate waking up at 5:30 in the morning, I started applying for jobs closer to where I live. Two days later, I get contacted for an interview! I went in today and it went so well! Next Monday I will be going into a preschool to observe the classroom. I COULD BE A REAL PRESCHOOL TEACHER! I am so excited.

Hopefully that means I will have more continuous blog updates. It's hard having a "real life", haha!

I found out Friday that I got promoted! I have only been working at the Elementary School for around 2 months and I already am moving up in the ranks! It's really nice to know I get a raise and more hours. It's also great to know this may lead to a haircut!

When we are low on money, a haircut is the last thing we can get. Matt & I both have long, crazy hair, and when we don't take care of it properly, it really gets out of control. In hopes of getting a haircut, and telling myslef my hair still looks presentable, here is a new group of photos! Haha.

GIANT SOCKS!

A few years ago, I couldn't decide what I wanted for my birthday, so I just got a gift certificate from a website that sold socks. I decided I'd buy some huge, long socks, that I wouldn't wear very often. Well, those sock sat around until I remembered I had them, and now they will soon have holes in them from wearing them too often. I mostly wear them for warmth reasons, BUT I love the way they look scrunched down with a good pair of boots.

New Years "Resolutions"--a little late

I think I mentioned last year that I'm not a big fan of "resolutions" because they simply get broken, but I have a few new habits/scheduling ideas that I think I would like to stick with!

Take more photos. Some may be thinking-"Caitlin, you take so many photos already, how is it possible to take any more"? Well, I haven't been taking as many artsy photographs lately. I also will be planning to use more of my analogue cameras.
Study MORE for the GRE. Yes, yes. How disgusting.
Study my Français, Español, and ASL.
Enjoy the time I have with my pugs, and especially with Matt.
Keep in contact more with my family and friends in MN & IA (and everywhere else around the country/world). Since visiting over the holidays, I realize how much I miss everyone and need to always be keeping up with them!
Don't take for granted the wonderful children I work with. They are extremely amazing, and I love them more and more each day.

Today is extremely chilly, and the roads are terrible, so I plan on sitting around, sipping on my coffee I made in my new vintage Moka coffee pot, and keeping warm with the pugs.

Christmas is already over?

*SAD FACE*

I noticed that my last post was from December 19th, and suddenly it's a new year!? The Holiday Season went by so quickly I feel like I didn't have any time to do anything! I barely watched any Christmas movies--NOT EVEN A CHRISTMAS STORY! ACK! I will subsequently spend my days clinging to anything Christmas until it's too much to bare.

Luckily I did get to travel home to Minnesota and Iowa (which were much more Christmassy, with ACTUAL SNOW!) and spend time with friends and family, which was so much better than staying here [Colorado] last year. I am extremely glad to have spent some time with my grandma, who is a whopping 90 years old!

All in all, I had a wonderful break, but, as always, wish it never had to end!

Black Swan (2010)

What happened to my Sweet Girl?

I won't go into many details, don't worry, but last night I finally saw Black Swan (2010). The film definitely lived up to all the hype. One of the aspects of the film that I could most relate to was Nina's nervous picking and scratching at her skin. I have had problems with this my whole life, so this element of the film made me see the entire work as a whole new story. I know if you have already seen Black Swan, one might ask how I could relate to anything in the film. You would be surprised.

I thought it was a beautiful film; beautifully acted, with wonderful cinematography and soul.

Have any of you seen Black Swan yet? If so, what are your thoughts? Did it live up to your expectations? Were there any odd elements of the film that stood out to you?

Ever since I discovered "Strangers with Candy" as a pre-teen, I have had a strange love for Amy Sedaris. She is quirky and fun, and makes things very interesting that otherwise may be boring and drab. Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People is one of those things. Though some of the crafts would only be useful in a trailer court or loony bin, others are actually very cute and creative!

I would recommend you asking for this book for Christmas if you are searching for some new and "unique" ideas for your crafting, or go check it out at your local library (like I did!)! The book and some crafts were actually featured on Etsy in The Storque (as well as some talk shows, of course)! Seriously, go check it out!

Lately I've felt that I'm not myself. Since leaving the library, the only people I see other than Matt are my two co-workers in the preschool room, and the kids. I barely see anyone else because of the short amount of time I have between getting home from work and sleeping. I have started trying to fit Pilates in my routine (to propel my energy), and I am hoping that my schedule will allow more hangout time with friends.

I wish I could actually go to grad school at an real university (not online), but none near here offer my major. That would at least mix me in with people my age, instead of almost primarily children. I can't help but think this disconnect with society is creating some sort of permanent "personality" damage. I just feel so hazy. At least this makes me realize even more that I want to be a librarian and not a teacher like so many people are telling me I should be...

Ho hum. Those were my down feelings for the day.

Although, I don't know if I'd ever be able to actually take it out on the road it's so beautiful.

I am going into bicycle withdrawals now that I have to commute out of my town to get to work :-( And the fact that it is getting cold out also stunts my desire to go out cycling. Does anyone have a tip to fill my bicycle void? Better yet, would anyone like to buy me padded-butt cycling pants?

I am not usually one to hype Starbucks, but the other day I wanted a treat for myself while running errands, and Starbucks was the only place near where I was. I walked in, hoping none of my friends would see me, and looked at the holiday menu. I wasn't in the mood for Coffee, so I was hoping they at least had something not-too-sweet that would still be warm and delicious. CARAMEL APPLE SPICE!

I don't know if it was because I hadn't had breakfast yet, or my freakish sinus infection, but this drink was the best thing I had ever had! It's warm, sweet, spicy...PERFECT! This is bad news, since I drive by a drive-thru Starbucks everyday to work...

Mmm. I know a lot of people enjoy the holiday drinks at Starbucks, so what are some other great recommendations?

Tomorrow, Princess is going in for surgery. She is getting bladder stones removed, which recently have been giving her a perpetual UTI, as well as some constant pain. I am certain she will come out of it a better pug than ever!

Today I got an email informing me that American Apparel is having a special Cyber Monday sale with NOT ONLY 30% off any purchase, BUT ALSO--FREE SHIPPING! I was so excited to hear this, because I had been eying a Lace Chiffon dress for the holidays! I definately took advantage of the deals and bought my dress as well as a few other goodies.

I bought the black version, but the salmony color is amazing, too. I also bought a black thong leotard to go under the dress, because it is, after all, see-through on the top! I was in need of a cream colored cami as well, so I thought I would go for a trifecta!

Holiday Time!

It is pretty amazing having such a long break for each holiday, since I work at a school now. Therefore, I get to put extra time and care into all of my events!

Thanksgiving was delicious. I actually can consistently make a tender turkey with awesome stuffing, mashed potatoes, and of course, green bean casserole. I know it's good if someone as picky as Matt is lovin' it.

With all my time, I got to decorate the house for Christmas yesterday. It is always so fun for me to do it because we have such a small space, and I have so many decorations, that it truly looks like a Christmas house!

Sorry about the lighting on some of these, I was too excited to wait until it was dark to take more quality photos, haha.

Skins

Well, I figured I would get to this post before the appalling US version of Skins was released, so no one would EVER think I would like that trash.

Anyway, have you seen Skins?! If so, isn't it amazing? If not, YOU MUST. It is literally one of the greatest shows I have ever seen. The really brilliant thing about the show is that the creators hire virtually unknown actors and actresses for 2 seasons (which they complete their 2 years of sixth form--which is like community college/prep school--correct me British readers, if I'm wrong) and then they graduate, and they replace the entire cast (well, I am confused about this because they keep Effy for season 3...).

I think it is such a successful show because they cover basically every aspect of youth life. The fact that one can relate with at least one character, or even ALL characters is something that not many television shows can do.

I just finished season 2, which was pretty bittersweet, because I will miss the characters so much! I hope they make little cameos in the rest of the seasons, but I'm not holding my breath (other than Tony, maybe).

At any rate, I am absolutely in love with this series!

P.S. I will never EVER watch the US version of Skins. It is a complete rip-off of the original, and is something the public should protest against...ha! If you don't believe me, watch the first episode of the original version, and then compare it with the US previews. It will seriously make you enraged.

I've been working at school for about 2 weeks now, and it's probably the most challenging, fulfilling job I've ever had. Not only do I get a ton of qualifications for my further career path, but I also get to experience many lifestyles much different than mine. I really enjoy it, and I feel like a real person now!

Today, I got trained to distribute Glucogel in case any of the students go into a diabetic coma. If the school nurse is gone, I am the second in command! That is a lot of responsibility, but I am ready for the challenge.

Anyway, life is good, and I am excited to pursue my librarian dreams as well.

Oh, btw, I have no voice because the combination of everyone being sick at the library before I left, and working with sickly preschoolers has left me with something near a sinus infection, as well as a crackly, old smokers voice. My nose has never been this chapped.

Do you find it strange that I love the NFL? I often get told that it "disturbs" people how much I enjoy watching professional football. Just because I like fashion and makeup and puppies, doesn't mean I can't be a hardcore football fan!

Sundays are one of my favorite days of the week because of all the NFL games, commentary, and awesome recaps. I seriously will just sit at home and watch all the games, even if I don't like the teams. I think it has to do with my dad watching football so much as I was growing up.

Mondays are great, too, because of Monday Night Football, but the ESPN announcers aren't always the most...articulate.

And we all know I MUST look forward to the rare Thursday night game. I swear there were more Thursday night games when I was younger. Oh well!

Since it's fall time, boots are even more a part of my life than they are any other season. I love all types, but as of now, riding boots are my favorites. I received what I thought were going to be a new pair of brown riding boots in the mail today, but the store got it wrong and sent me size 7 high heeled black boots. They had better let me exchange them!

At any rate, what is your favorite type of boot? Do you only wear them in the fall/winter, or do you sport them all year round?

I'm back!

Halloween weekend really took it out of me, what with my 3 costume changes. I wasn't prepared for the weekend that crept up on me like a zombie from the Thriller video. On Friday, I was a dia de los muertos woman--someone like my love, Frida Kahlo. On Saturday, I had to think of something interesting, yet appropriate, for work; Nerd. And finally, on Saturday night, the costume you had heard me talking so much about; Edie.

Saturday night was probably one of the most fun nights I have had since I moved to Phil Collins [Fort Collins]!

AND HERE IS SOME SHOCKING NEWS: I had been applying for other jobs recently, since we have been very low on cash. I love working at the library, don't get me wrong--I want to make it my career, but I cannot move up in my position, and I can never make any more money. Basically, I got some interviews, and now I will officially be a para-professional at a local Elementary School, working in the Preschool room with children with disabilities! I am so excited, and it all came at the perfect time.

Banned Books Week (Sept. 25-Oct. 2, 2010)

Every year the ALA, or, American Library Association, puts out a list of banned books. These books are either banned by schools, societies, or individuals because of "questionable content". Banned Books Week is put together to make people aware that censorship is not the answer, and our freedoms in this country need to be respected!

Luckily, most public libraries do not ban books. Make sure to take a trip to your local libraries to see what the fuss is all about! You could learn some pretty crazy things, let me tell ya!

Halloween Fanatic

Beacuse I am such a Halloween fanatic, I have been planning my costume for months now. Well, I was planning a different costume for months. My friend Zach and I have this bet that I have to outdo myself every year by wearing littler & littler amounts of clothing. The only logical choice for a costume, then, was Leeloo Dallas from The Fifth Element.

As you can see, there isn't much there--costume-wise--so, like I said, perfect choice. I had it narrowed down to two Etsy seller's shops who created custom-made Leeloo costumes, and I was even ready to buy a Mulitpass on Ebay. Suddenly, though, we were struck with near-broke status, and that costume idea had to be swept under the rug (for this Halloween, at least).

Now I was faced with the trouble of thinking up a new costume. I had to think of something cheap--of course--and luckily I came up with one of my all-time very very favorite women-Edie Sedgwick! What a perfect idea. I have a black leotard, black tights, giant earrings and necklace, and I can throw on make-up with the best of 'em. The only thing I need is a wig! And the outfit fits perfectly with Zach's clothing rules.

Primer

I never used to use very much makeup, especially in high school when I woke up at the last minute to get to class. Eventually, I have come to enjoy my makeup process and I always get excited to see the final outcome. It is an artistic expression, not a cover-up.

After experimenting in different types of makeup and products to prepare for actually applying makeup, I have come across Primer. In order to get a more "smooth" look to my face, I use primer to help fill in gaps and smooth down blemishes. Right now I am using "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer by Benefit. It smells really good (like strawberry yogurt!), and doesn't leave your skin oily at all. You can still use your moisturizer without it feeling gunky on your face.

The other primer I have experimented with is by Smashbox. The Photo Finish Foundation Primer is extremely smooth and silky, and looks like it would be greasy, with its gelatinous consistency, but it is so so soft on the skin, and gives your face a definite Photoshopped look. I can't wait to get some more!

Do any of you use primer? I don't have many friends here who I can talk makeup with, so I would like your input/stories!

Feather Earrings!

I recently visited a friend's friend's booth at a festival in Fort Collins a few weekends ago called NewWestFest. She specializes in African goods, as well as clothing and jewelry. I spotted some earrings in the corner, and fell in love. LONG, PINK, FEATHER EARRINGS!

Ever since I bought these babies I have been looking around for more and more feather earring. I recently found the gems from sarahthornhill on Etsy

They look even more amazing in real life!

My next venture in feather earrings will be from a shop I featured on my blog a bit ago--GatherJewelry. The Aztec Warrior Princess Feather Earrings are the most beautiful, extravagant earrings I have ever seen. They have been sold, of course, but if I ever get some extra cash, I will be sure to custom order these lovelies!

I've come to realize most people don't care if you have posted in the last week or not, so I'm going to stop apologizing for my absences!

These past few weeks have gone by so quickly. Matt & I had a lovely time in Colorado Springs Labor Day weekend, and I have started hanging out with friends who I actually enjoy being around. I have also started delving back into my Français, and found a nice gym to go to with one of my co-workers a few times a week.

Now, I just need to get my thinking cap back in gear and start studying for the dreaded GRE. Science Matters is starting up soon as well, & I have finally decided 100% to take the Instructor job. I am a bit worried, just because I have never taught a class by myself; I always had someone there helping me! It should be fun, though, and the challenge will help me get back in the studying mode.

If you are in the Ft. Collins area, and love Frozen Yogurt, you MUST visit Goodberry Frozen Yogurt. It is a local "Pinkberry" style yogurt shop, and it is just amazing! Here is a local write-up of the place! I've gone with Aly (an actual AWESOME friend) a few times, and we have another date with Natalie & Elly (more loves) this Wednesday. Maybe I will remember to bring my nice camera this time and take some photos.

And lastly, I recently finished reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. It was amazing. I wish I would have read it earlier, though it may not have had the same impact if I were younger. I love when I start a book and I immediately know I will enjoy it. So was the case. I know it's an older book, but if you haven't already read it, I would strongly recommend to finally do so. I could read it a few more times, and I'm sure I will in my lifetime!

This past week has been a little stressful because Matt & I have been in the process of buying a new car! Actually, Matt's Godfather, Johnny, bought it for us! It's a 2010 Mazda3, or something like that...I don't know much about cars, but I know it's really amazing having a new one!

Since car stuff is so boring, I'm not really going into it much, but if you are interested in knowing the features, etc., we have on the car, just ask!

I probably won't be blogging much until the weekend is over, on account of Labor Day. I may or may not be seeing my parents in Nebraska, or I may be going to Denver. I guess I will just find out this weekend! I am also going out with a few friends this week for dinners, etc., so will be quite busy.

Chambray!

I recently bought a GAP chambray button-up that I only got to wear a few times before it got too hot out. I am now eagerly looking forward to fall, so I can start wearing it again! I also bought a cute chambray dress from Target, which will also be a great late summer/early fall look I can sport. I am glad that chambray seems to be coming into fashion in full force!

Guess what? I have to get rid of one of my Beloved bicycles *tear*. We have no room for it, and we are in desperate need of cash. If any of you know someone in the Fort Collins area in need of a sweet, sweet bicycle, please send them over to Craigslist!

It was actually fun cleaning off my baby, once known as "The Green Goblin". Matt & I captured some really neat sunset photos.

Have any of you had to purge your home of goods you love in order to make ends meet?

UPDATE: A nice guy came over today & bought the bike for his girlfriend! That was easy!

Two posts in one day! Wow!

Well, I wanted to let you all know that I am selling one of my skirts on Ebay. It's a really nice skirt, never been warn, from Heritage 1981. I bought it online without trying it on, and my large thighs prevent it from looking normal on me. If anyone wears a size small, and has smaller legs, please feel free to check i out!
